last night, we packed up and drove off to downtown winston-salem, to take in our first dash game at the new stadium. we had lots of fun...
i think we were in the ninth row.
isaac loves sprite. or any pop for that matter.
watching intently.
when the excitement of class a baseball wore off (after about 1 inning), we went to explore other parts of the park, such as the kid zone, which had an assortment of blow up bouncy apparatuses and a merry-go-round. isaac's favorite is the big slide.
isaac did a really great job at being a baseball fan... cheering at the appropriate times, dancing when cued to dance, eating hot dogs, drinking carbonated beverages, walking the long long long haul from our parking spot to the stadium, riding on dad's shoulders from the stadium back to the parking spot...

first baseball game
we took isaac to his first baseball game last night, along with some other youth group leaders and students. well, student.
we had high hopes that we could make it the length of the game for the fireworks. we also had realistic expectations that it might be a complete disaster. it was somewhere in between. isaac did really well, but we only made it to about the 6th inning....
eating fries with dad.

riding the carousel:

all-star:

chillin' with dad:

cute hat:

there were brief moments of a frustrated boy that just wanted to escape and run:

me and the boy...

dad and the boy...

we tried to leave with enough time to get back to the lewisville fireworks. we got back about halfway through them, so derek let me and isaac out to catch the end. when they were over, he picked us up, but we had to go against the giant mass of thousands of people that we flowing from shallowford square. it took us a RIDICULOUS amount of time to travel the less than 1 mile trip home. and... isaac didn't really seem to care about the fireworks. eh. maybe next year...

some shots
Isaac likes to dig through the cabinets for hidden treasures. On this particular occasion, the treasure was an old cookie sheet. He carried it around all day. Pretty exciting...He's getting a little more brave than I would like. He likes to stand on the objects that he climbs (couch, bed, tables, etc). He's had a couple of falls, but it doesn't really seem to phase him.We tried eating at the grownup table yesterday. It went ok. Well, I take that back. It went just as well as feeding with the high chair goes. Most of the food gets fed to Lucy and within 5 minutes, he was ready to get down. But, I did manage to get a couple of cute shots of the boy at the table. Here's one. (Because I can only post 4 at a time, using picasa.)...
In other news, I just saw a Dan Marino commercial with Larry the Cable Guy. What is this world coming to?

Tom Brady Curse
ok, so remember all the media attention given to tom brady when he showed up at his girlfriend's house [incidentally, not the mother of his child], wearing a boot?
although, i'm pretty sure we didn't see each other during this time in superbowl history, jenn lawson and myself separately made fun of tom brady. i hoped that it was something serious and that this would interfere with their run to perfection. little did i know that the run would hit a wall with or without mr. brady's booted leg.
well, last week, jenn went rollerskating (with kids, not on her own) and suffered a bit of an accident that resulted in her very own boot. you can read her account here. she was quite sure this was payback from her having mocked tommy b.
although i felt bad for her, i had to laugh a little at the irony of the situation, but i was quick to point out that i, too, had made fun of the boot, i was not suffering from any cosmic payback. hahhahahahaha....
then, yesterday at church, i was carrying the little man down some steps. as i approached the bottom, my croc caught on a step. forced to decide amongst: a) catching myself and dropping the baby, b) landing on the soft cushioning of a baby or c) trying to set the baby down safely while my ankle took on the brunt of my awkward fall, i chose c. not really chose. that's just what happened. it wasn't like the headlines you read about where mom's do crazy things for their kids, but it wasn't as if i had a say in the matter, either. my body just did it.
(note, as i sat on the steps in excruciating pain, isaac scrambled off to go up another flight of steps...clearly not understanding the sacrifice i just made for him).
i think it's just a pretty bad sprain. i know i've had my fair share of ankle injuries. they were never for something this lame, though. so, we'll see how it goes today and then decide if further action needs to be taken...
so, it appears the curse of tom brady is upon me. i urge you, if you made fun of the boot, to be on guard!

GIANTS WIN!!
I am so excited that the Giants won the Super Bowl.
Actually, I'm mostly excited that the Patriots lost.
(Have I mentioned that I dislike the Patriots?)

one year ago today...
....was the last day of freedom that i would know.
(he turns one tomorrow.)
there's not much to report from the lidbom camp these days. isaac is currently lying in bed, alternating crying, playing, and yelling momomomom. he's really trying hard not to sleep. perhaps he's having a throwback to the olden days of little sleep. i don't know what to do with him.
he's also been not eating, as of late. for example, this morning, he ate about 15 cheerios for breakfast (and a stray piece of dogfood). last night, he ate approximately 4 bites of baby food, before calling it quits. again, i don't know what to do with him.
in other news, derek bought a steam cleaner for the carpets, and we know have a stripe down the living room floor - on one side, there's nice, clean, fluffy carpet, and on the other side is dirty, matted down, yucky carpet. we'll finish the task soon. i hope.
finally, i would like to take this time to state that i hate the new england patriots and i would love nothing more than to see them taken down by slack-jawed eli manning and the ny giants, causing their perfect* season to be all in vain.

Victory!!!
The Miami Dolphins won their first game of the season, today. Finally.
Now they are 1-13, and will not go down in history as the only 0-16 team ever. I'm rather elated.

0-1
For those of you that don't know, I grew up a Miami Dolphins fan.
There were three main reasons contributing to this:
1. Bobby Ehmann (who sat next to me in 5th grade) like the Dolphins. Wanting to fit in, I feigned interest - which soon became real interest - which soon became undying love.
2. My family members were ALL Bills fans (which makes sense living 30 minutes from Buffalo, NY). It's not why I chose to like Miami, but upon learning of the intense rivalry, I stuck to my guns.
3. Dan Marino was (at the time) the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. Of course, his lack of superbowl ring and the surpassing of many of his records by Peyton Manning leaves this up for some debate.
Anyhow, I was looking forward to this season. They finally have a quarterback whose name I have heard of. They have a new coach. And hopes are high.
Then, they lost their first game in overtime yesterday. Will it be another season that leaves me waiting until next year? Probably.
