for christmas, jake received tickets to go see the wwe (formerly the wwf) in charlotte. derek and terry also got tickets. secretly, i think they were pretty excited. :)
anyhoo, i helped jake with these signs:

derek sent this picture from his phone, in between a long string of twitter updates:

family visit

late tuesday night (early wednesday morning, actually), my parents and jake rolled into town. since then, it's been a festival of eating, playing the wii, more eating, shopping, cooking, eating, gifts, and eating.

here's jake and isaac contributing their strongest skills to the cooking:

on christmas, isaac wasn't as interested in getting gifts as he was opening them. and later, we would find out, he wasn't as interested in opening gifts as he was eating candy:

a lot of nerds:

hanging with grampa terry:

sarahpowers visit

let me start off by saying that this will be the first of many blog posts, attempting to catch up (hopefully in chronological order) the events of the preceding week or so....

last weekend, we took off down the highway to visit sarahpowers and other raleigh friends. here's some pics from that trip...

isaac with gloria:

sarahpowers made some festive magnadoodle art:

sarahpowers and isaac playing:

we went out last sunday. spent a long and painful night (isaac didn't adjust to his new sleeping environment very well). shopped in the morning. and got back on the road to home.

picture tag

i was tagged by jena to post the 4th picture in the 4th folder of my pictures. due to my somewhat unorthodox folder and file naming conventions, different applications reveal different pictures. let's see what blogger counts as #4 in #4....

so, it's a picture of little jake playing little league.
i think he's about 6 in this picture.
that's all.

oh, i suppose i tag: lorena, judi, jessie d. and sarasays.

Family day

Derek needs to use up some vacation days, so he's been staying home here and there. Today, we took Isaac to the childrens museum and now we are lunching at the mellow mushroom...

christmas loot.

i see that i haven't blogged in awhile. it's been a bit hectic around here lately.

we had our christmas party with derek's parents over the weekend, so we were working fast and furious to get those gifts all lined up. we got some sweet loot from that exchange. i (we) got some christmas dishes to match our blue kitchen. and a couple of lowes gift cards for home improvements, gardening, etcetera.... or perhaps a new weed whacker.

isaac scored biggest. he now owns his very own grocery cart, complete with 100's of play food items to scatter all over the house. he got a personalized apron AND chef jacket (both of which he refuses to wear). hmmmm, what else... oh, a square chair that is like a giant booster seat. so, it's got a deep low seat, and a high shallow seat and when it's on it's side it's a like a giant dangerous stool. :) he scored a few more little toys but the grocery cart was the runaway winner...

anyhoooo, like everyone else, we have been and will continue to be quite busy with various parties and celebrations from now until christmas. throw in some baking and traveling and shopping, and hope that there's time to sleep. :)

girl robot

i have been working on this robot for a couple of days now.
it took a few isaac naps, a couple of evenings in front of the tv, and some stolen moments while the boy watched blues clues...
it's for leslie's girl baby, due in may...
i switched from felt to fleece, you know, for a baby and all....

sickie-zilla

it's been a long couple of days in the lidbom home. isaac has been battling a cold for the last week or so, but yesterday he woke up in full fever mode. he was about 103F and quite crabby.

he spent morning in his favorite chair, eating animal crackers, sipping water and watching tv, all while looking quite pathetic. he took a short nap somewhere in there and some more nap with me on the couch. he perked up a little in the afternoon, but towards the evening, his fever went up a little. when i attempted tylenol, he vomited all of his day's intake. good times. at least i had put a little crumb catcher blanket underneath him. that was a lifesaver.

we got the tip from the doctor's office to try tylenol (or whatever drug tylenol is) in the other end of the boy. good times. after his bath, we gave it a shot and put him to bed. he slept a little and then woke up and threw up again. the rest of the night would not be good. we tried sleeping in my bed, on the couch, the loveseat, "his" chair, the rocking chair and finally his crib won out. i slept across the hall in the office, to spare myself trips up and down the stairs all night. there was probably about 3 total hours of actual sleep.

today, he seemed a little better all morning and his fever was down to the 100-101 range. he took an ultra short nap and woke up burning up again. we tylenoled once again (the normal way), laid on the couch some, and then tried a nap again. and he's been asleep ever since.

that's the story in our house.

thanksgiving

we had thanksgiving festivities at our house this year. pretty exciting. isaac was a little sleepy and/or sick to start the day, and spent the entire morning on the couch, like so:

i just like this picture:

trying to get all of paw paw's great-grand-boys to sit still and take a picture. we didn't even worry about all looking at the camera...

the boys all got to have a thanksgiving picnic on a blanket in the living room.

the older boys got distracted from the picnic by the popper:

we do a partial christmas exchange (derek's cousin's kids). isaac missed the mayhem, but after his nap, he got to open his presents:

the train was a hit:

after he opened his gifts, derek's mom took him to her house for his first sleepover. he loves to go to his gramma's house. we picked him up friday morning and he was exhausted. he spent the whole morning in the chair watching tv, before dozing off around noon....

action shot

derek ordered a new lens for our camera and was practicing capturing some of isaac's adventures and got this shot of his jump from the stool...
