haircuts by mom

i gave isaac his first at home haircut last night.
he usually has a complete meltdown when we take him to get it cut, and i was tired of paying for and tipping for an imcomplete haircut. so... we bought clippers and i became the barber of the family.
the clippers worked slightly better, probably due to the play-doh and other toys we placed on his tray as i hacked away. it's no gq haircut, but it will have to do until he learns to sit still for more than 20 seconds at a time.

Batavia, NY - Text Only Update

We're back from Batavia, NY 14020.

Between staying at my Aunt Ano's (Eleanor's) and Uncle Ray's at night, where there was no broadband internet access, and running around like crazy to keep the boy happy during the day, it was hard to post any updates.

Some of the highlights of the trip were:
A playdate at Austin Park with Julie Redband (Varland) and her little ones, Anna and new Isaac.
A fish fry at Jackson Street Grill with Aunt E. and Uncle R.
A visit to the freshly opened Target store in Batavia. Who would have ever thought?
Chillin' with my mom's cottage neighbors.
A short trip to the beach.
The obligatory trip to the Pok-a-dot, so Derek could get his Italian Omelet fix.
A couple of stops at Adam Miller toys, one for Isaac toys, one for Aunt E. to pick up some gifts for relatives.
A visit to Gramps and Carolyn's so they could see the monster.
A visit from Frankie. Great Uncle Frankie. Hehe.
A delicious homecooked meal by Aunt E. for the whole entire family.

The ride home was relatively uneventful. We got in around 7:30 last night and spent the evening settling in and relaxing.

I'll post pictures eventually.

Batavia, NY - Italian Festival

Yesterday (Sunday), we went to Buffalo to see Leslie and give Derek a dose of the "Italian Festival", held yearly on Hertel Avenue....

Me, the Gramma, and Isaac strolling about:

Isaac and Jake on the Winnie the Pooh spinning ride:

On the Merry-Go-Round:

Back and Leslie's on the trampoline:

Isaac didn't take a nap all day yesterday. He fell asleep about 2 minutes before we got home from Buffalo (around 6:15) and slept until this morning. He was worn out.

Today has been relatively uneventful. We've just been lounging around. Except for our obligatory trip to Tim Horton's...

Batavia, NY - First Dayzzz

We got in and hung out for a few minutes, before heading to my Aunt Eleanor's and Uncle Ray's, where we would be staying.

The next day, my mom and I went to some yard sales, to kill time before picking up Jake from Boy Scout camp. Then, we lounged around the house. The boys fished. Isaac tested the view from the balcony:

Jake spent the night at Aunt E's with us and in the morning, Isaac enlisted him in a game of pretend with some vintage little people:

Isaac relaxed Aunt E's dog's bed:

And we all enjoyed some delicious pancakes for breakfast:

Then we headed back to my mom's to pick her up to go to Buffalo to see Les-o-lie and Eric...

Batavia, NY - The Trip

I guess I haven't really blogged in awhile and I probably made no mention in any previous posts that we would be heading to Batavia, NY last Friday. But we did. And we're here. So, here's some shots of the ride...

Getting ready to nap with the Linus Blanket:

Isaac liked when I filled his toes with Gold Fish Crackers and he had to get them out to eat them:

Working for his food:

Eating a nutritious dinner from Sheetz (chicken tenders and french fries):

Isaac was SOOOOO good on the ride. I couldn't believe it.
We made good time and only made two stops. He never even cried. He was an angel boy.

Isaac hearts Jake

Whenever I ask Isaac where Jake is, he runs and gets this picture and brings it back. He loves Jake and if he knew we were heading to NY next friday to see him, I think he would be excited (and maybe even behave in the car for 11 long hours).

tuesday with cora

here are some shots from a playdate with cora on tuesday.

we went to the park, but it started to rain and was a little slippery, so we came to my house to play, before heading to lunch at j. butlers, where unbeknownst to us, kids ate free. that was good, because all they ate was a few french fries....

anyhooo...

and playing nicely with the board puzzle:

cora didn't like the swing much, although you can't tell it from this picture:

first baseball game

we took isaac to his first baseball game last night, along with some other youth group leaders and students. well, student.

we had high hopes that we could make it the length of the game for the fireworks. we also had realistic expectations that it might be a complete disaster. it was somewhere in between. isaac did really well, but we only made it to about the 6th inning....

eating fries with dad.

riding the carousel:

all-star:

chillin' with dad:

cute hat:

there were brief moments of a frustrated boy that just wanted to escape and run:

me and the boy...

dad and the boy...

we tried to leave with enough time to get back to the lewisville fireworks. we got back about halfway through them, so derek let me and isaac out to catch the end. when they were over, he picked us up, but we had to go against the giant mass of thousands of people that we flowing from shallowford square. it took us a RIDICULOUS amount of time to travel the less than 1 mile trip home. and... isaac didn't really seem to care about the fireworks. eh. maybe next year...
