My mom and Terry and Jake (and canine, Zeke) left this morning.
It was sad.
Now we are all alone in our parenting duties. Overall, it went well. It's definitely tiring. It's midnight (or a few minutes past) and we're just sitting around waiting for Isaac to awaken for another feeding, changing, burping, possibly another changing, and nap. Then we repeat.
In other Isaac news: Derek started a Picasa web album for the boy.
Check it out here.

The last week of my life....
So, I'm feeling a little better and ready to post some details.
Last Tuesday, we went to the doctor for an ultrasound and appointment. My blood pressure was high, so they sent us to the hospital. Turns out, I was also 4 cm dialated and having contractions (although I didn't feel them). Since the ultrasound showed a very healthy baby, they decided it was time....
They induced labor around 7ish and it was a long night of upping the doses of Pitocen (sp?) and getting me ready to go. Around 10:45 am, I was ready, but my doctor was in surgery. I waited about an hour and finally another doc came over from the office to help out (the same one who sent me to the hospital). A little while later, Isaac was born. It was pretty easy.
We started off a little rough at first. I was very fatigued and uncomfortable in the hospital. There was a lot of frustration at first, too. Then we came home, and my mom arrived on the scene and that helped a lot. He was still quite fussy and there was still a good deal of frustration. But, he's been eating a ton better and he's much more content. We are even working towards somewhat of a routine.
Tomorrow, my mom and family leaves and that's a little scary. Derek will stay home for three days, but then we'll be on our own on Monday. Yikes.
Some pictures to follow.....

Wii Update
Derek Lidbom is suffering from extreme muscle soreness after playing an excessive amount of Wii Sports (bowling, tennis, boxing and baseball).
The game is definitely as dangerous as we were warned.
I would advise that you clear out all open beverage containers and other possible carpet damaging vessels. :)
But, it's fun.

down the stretch...
well, it appears i am 6 days away from my due date.
i don't really feel like the baby has any plans to exit soon.
none of the things that people have told me to watch for have happened.
(i will spare the details of what it is that people have told me to watch for. and you're welcome).
anyhow, we're just waiting now.
everything is set to go.
the bags are packed.
the room is ready.
the house is clean.
we need to put a baby seat in the car, i guess.
so our logistics have been established.
now, on the other hand, i suppose we're not really ready to have a baby at all.
i'm sure we'll figure it out. and i'm sure there'll be lots of people ready to help and give advice (some wanted and some unwanted, as best i can tell).
i'm pretty uncomfortable lately. i guess that's to be expected. overall, i'd say i had it pretty easy. there was not an ounce of morning sickness. i didn't get rashes or anything like that. i am still working. there's the swelling and the heartburn. that's really all i've had to contend with. not too shabby. unless i have like a 96 hour labor. then, i'm pretty sure i won't be singing the same tune about this pregnancy. :)
well, i'll be sure to try and keep everyone (anyone?) who reads this updated on an baby activity.....

i have normal protein again
at least that's what the doctor said today.
still a little concern over the giganticness of my cankles, so i go in on tuesday for an ultrasound to check something. i think the fluid around the baby. i'm not sure.
in super awesome news:
my principal found a math sub for me!!!!
she is really excited. she's not really keen on the calculus part, but i had figured that was a compromise i would have to make. i met her today and i feel 100% at ease about being out for a long time. so, that's flippin' awesome.

Day 90
.... of the school year that is.
Tomorrow is the halfway point. The end of semester number 1. The hump day for the year. However you want to look at it.
It's flown by. At times. Occasionally it DRAGS on and on and on.
We have teacher work days on thursday and friday.
Then we start all over with a new crew.
I have sophomores and seniors to finish out the year.
Both have their pros and cons. The seniors are already slipping into a severe case of senioritis. And sophomores aren't quite as mature as they would like to think they are. But, sophomores aren't freshman. And the seniors have the AP exam to worry about, so I can threaten with that should they start sliding any further.
Um. Ok. That's all I've got for today.

2 weeks.... or less?
I am two weeks out from my projected due date as of today. It's crazy.
It doesn't really seem like I'm going to have the baby soon.
Outside of heartburn and increased cankle swelling, I don't feel anymore pregnant than a month or so ago. But, I guess it's a fact. The baby is coming soon.
I went to the doctor yesterday and she seemed a little concerned about the swelling. My blood pressure is normal, so that was good, but my protein was high. I didn't really know what that meant until I came home and looked it up. Seems that I might be at risk for preeclempsia. Not sure on that spelling (and neither is blogger spellchecker!!). Anyhow, I read that if women get this, doctors will go ahead and induce labor. I don't know. We'll find out. I go back next Wednesday.
So, that's that.

last day of classes
It's the last day of classes today!!
We start exams tomorrow. We still have the students for a little bit on Thursday and Friday, but for the most part, my time with them is over.
Well, except for the Calculus nerds. I get that whole group back again.
I'm hoping to have the baby today, so I can miss out on exams. Not for selfish reasons, but because having a sub for the next week or so wouldn't really impact the kids much. But, I'm not really feeling like it's going to happen today.
Maybe if I go for a jog?

another friday down.....
well, not quite yet. but, soon.
i am giving tests and quizzes all day today. the last grades of the semester for all three classes. just in case i go down with a severe case of having babies.
i also have a doctor's appointment today. fun times.
i'm at the end, so i go every friday and hang out with all the overly pregnant moms.
still no sub planned for me.
we're supposed to hear back from a retired starmount teacher today.
hopefully, he'll say yes. but, if not, it's back to the drawing board.
we have a shower at our church tomorrow.
should be excellent fun.
that's the last one and then we're on our way, i guess.
ok then.

bigger by the day
it seems like i am getting visibly larger with each and every passing days.
some of my students informed me that i got huge over Christmas.
i can't wait to be done.
i have a theory.
the last month of pregnancy is so miserable so that the intense pain of childbirth is sweet relief from the cankles, heartburn, and inability to tie one's own shoes.
i'm pretty sure that's how it was intended.

it was good while it lasted
i'm printing a test. when it's done (all ten pages of it), i'll head to bed.
and like that, vacation is over.
i spent all day grading and writing lesson plans. so, my vacation was pretty much over yesterday. but, i'll be getting another one (if you can call it that) soon.
we only have 11 days left in the semester.
4 of them are exam days, leaving 7 class days.
that's not too bad. i think i can make it. i know i can.
well, the test is finished printing, so i'm off. wish me luck!
